Cats filled the rugged clearing like the stars in the sky. Some of the shorter felines were forced to stand on tip-toe in order to see above the tall, stretching weeds that had claimed the terrain as their domain. Whitefire streaked in, exhilaration coursing through his veins. He didn't stop moving as he crunched his muscled haunches and leaped to the surface of the rotting tree stump that the cats so looked to. Scrabbling to claim his balance, he yowled loudly, a small glitter of starlight bouncing off his revealed teeth. The throng silenced, and Whitefire began. "The stump and I welcome you." His common greeting. "Among us today, as I'm sure your respectably big mouths and ears have perceived..." He gave them a fake look of disapproval. "Is a newcomer. I am here to replace your pronoun of "her" with "Tale". She willfully joins our ranks and I am quite confident she is of a skillful ilk. Please welcome her as I have, as we receive a bit of help in the upcoming winter times." Whitefire paused to indulge the quiet murmurs, and craning glances in Tale's direction. A few brash felines smiled and some meowed a hello. Others muttered uncooperative. Whitefire silenced the buzz with an icy stare. "I draw you all to The Stump because it is here momentous news is relayed. I feel this is momentous if there is any meaning to the word. You will be sharing your den, food, and trodding ground with Tale. Let us see what she has to say." Whitefire gave his beloved clan one last stern look, a warning, as a father might give his children. He dropped off the stump and whispered to Tale in the silence. "They are good cats. As are you." He felt uneasy about putting Tale on the spot, but it was only proper. It was the way they did things here.

Tale stood like a silent shade beside the stump, her dark brown body almost able to blend into the tree back and shadow alike, her wide green eyes forever watching the crowd the only thing keeping her from vanishing into the nature. She rathered to not look at Whitefire, his words ringing out in the weed and cat covered clearing. His words were less formal than she would first assume they'd be, but he must've been giving some icy glares for any murmuring that started was quickly silenced. Ears perked forward throughout the conversations, giving the softest of nods to the hellos and smug little looks towards the cats who had been silently told to shut up by a look from their leader. Obviously the trouble makers. Some of the females looked with a bit disliking of her, but it was understandable. All normal females would be jealous of any attention another female recieved, it was natural in the world and every species.
Not a look of surprisment came over her face as Whitefire pushed the spotlight her way, and others might've been able to assume that she had been told about this earlier. Lies, of course, but most couldn't understand how she could be completely and totally unfazed. Snow white whiskers gave a twitch at his words, muscles rippling as she tensed and leaped ontop of the stump. Tail shot out, keeping a good balence on the soft wood of the stump. Large green eyes looked down on the cat Clan, noticing the variety of expressions they gave her and she refused to reflect. "As your leader, Whitefire, informed, I am Tale. Though he has only given you a name, I will give you the personality to remember the name by. I cannot quite explain myself in words, however I can feel that I must tell you I have an awful temper in the morning," she smiled wryly at this, not meaning much humor at all. She was an awful companion when she just wakes up."As you may all tell, I have little to say after being pushed into this spot but I am certain when I regain my lost wits that I will be able to answer any questions that you may have about me or my arrival. Otherwise, I am just another good cat as you are." She cleverly worked Whitefire's quiet words into her quite awful and blunt speech, her brown body slipping off the stump.
She smiled the slightest as she took a place beside Whitefire, head tilted one way as a sarcastic question of, "How good am I?"

Whitefire cringed inwardly. This was not the assuring, friendly proclamation Whitefire had bee hoping Tale would give. Oh well... I must rest assured in my own advice... time will heal. The lithe, white tom swept a searching glance over Tale following her departure from The Stump. "Well, you certainly have no soporific powers over this throng." He mused, lighting onto the rotting base. "Young and old, today has been a most consequential day for our ranks. Our generation, to be sure, should revel in change; not shun it. We have witnessed its jurisdiction as it alters our lives. Let us adjourn home and rest our paws and souls. Alight into the forest my owl of the night!" Whitefire tilted his muzzle sky wards and let slip a glorious yowl that seemed to climb to the moon, and resonate off of its disk. The other cats at once mimicked the white cat and the ragged clearing was filled to the brim with a sincere caterwaul. Whitefire leaped down, once more, from The Stump. As the noise slowly died down and cats began to flow around them, Whitefire spoke, "First impressions? Well, it doesn't really matter, now does it? They are usually wrong. I have another order of business I seem to have neglected to intimate to your ears. You will need a mentor; a guide to teach you our ways and hone your skills." If they need honing. "Unfortunately my paws are a bit full, so I will at once set to the task of finding someone acceptable. Let's go home." The moonlight was now the sole ruler of the sky. Twilight had melted away and the stars glittered as numerous as the leaves in the forest. Whitefire's coat seemed to glow under the brilliant milky disk. The weeds, too, seemed brighter and with a silver outline.

Tale replied to his witty comment with a flick of her tail and her forever knowing smile. Her eyes gave the briefest flicker as Whitefire passed her to once more return to his throne, words ringing out and then followed by what she took to be the ending declaration. The cat's yowls filled the once silent forest, certain that only her carefully listening ears could hear the angry cries of a few birds above and the far away trample of a scared deer. She blinked a few times, ignoring the clan and turning them a deaf ear as she looked to the forest. She was ony awaken when a nearby cat flicked their tail her way, whether on purpose or not she was unknown to.
Her ears twitched towards Whitefire and his words, the scowl that was forcing it's way to her face never making it past her stony expression. She had believed at first that she would be taught by him personally, but his second sentence explained well. Once more, she was about to be brutally pushed into the public, something she loathed to be in. "First impressions are lasting ones," she stated softly, implying the fact that she couldn't care less of what the clan thought of her, "But this home you speak of sounds lovely."
With that, she trotted forward among the mass of cats, able to pick out the basic direction and now allowed to keep herself a respectful distance away from Whitefire. The shadows just deepened the colour of her pelt, most of her green eyes taken up by her black pupils. What ever was not covered by black, though, was gleaming. Tail lay close to the ground and behind her, curled slightly inwards. Large eyes looked ahead of her, cold expression showing nothing that she noticed the stares.

Whitefire watched Tale pass by him with rigid indifference. Whether said indifference was sincere or not, Whitefire would have to wait and see. Rising to his paws, he stretched with a snowy arch, hair running down his spine prickling. Suddenly, a large, bulky black queen padded up to Whitefire, olive green eyes kindled. Her satin ear tilted forward in anticipation as she parted her jaws to speak, but Whitefire beat her to it, "Hold your mouth, you ostensible hoarder of the unsuspecting." He teased the lightly gleaming female lightly. "Who else would I appoint to shake up the newcomer? Only the slippery, sharp-sailing Marbreak." The black cat known as Marbreak grinned, revealing perfectly symmetrical rows of pointy, white teeth. "Thanks Whitefire! You know I love them when they're fresh... and Rubicon is almost done." Whitefire nodded, "Yes, I have been watching his progress." Marbreak watched Tale moving farther and farther away/ "What do you know about that cat?" "Just as much as you do. She might be a rival to reckon with your stealth, Mar." Marbreak stared at Whitefire, as if she wasn't sure of he was joking or not. She made as if to go speak to Tale, but Whitefire placed a paw in front of her. "Too much for one day." Marbreak nodded, and flicked her tail in farewell before parting.

Tale was soon just a slip of cat among the mess of furs, the colours ranging from the brightest of gingers to the dullest of greys. She could see her own brown pelt in a few places, but it seemed that she was the only one that was yet to be marked with grey or white furs. Claws were sheathed, paws silent on the soft ground especially considering all the noise that rang in the forest. She let loose a soft sigh, sounding contented. Though her ears were deaf to the other's words, she could still see the excitement of a newcomer and a few more things. Some of the toms were boasting proudly over their kills and catches, what they were to do if a war arrived. There was one over-confident tom who proudly took a seat ontop of a rock and proudly yowled that he could take down a wolf and deer by himself. He was quickly knocked off by the laughing and jeering crowd, but he too was laughing with them. The tight knot of females beside them looked a bit meek, on the younger side of things it seemed and didn't enjoy their opposite gender's gloats.
Dark brown figure was soon within the camp grounds among the other cats, the young and old retreating to their sleeping quarters. Tale paitently took a seat in the shadows of the bush that concealed the Clan's grounds, waiting for Whitefire to arrive and point her in the right direction of where she was to retreat. There was tons to watch, so she was not bored. Short muzzle showed a smile as a youngster attempted to steal from the pile, only making it about two steps before an Elder towered over him. Large green eyes blinked and looked to the bushes after a moment, thinking she got a strong wift of Whitefire among the cat scents, meaning he was close.

Whitefire streaked through the forest like a ray of moonlight until he breached the camp boundaries. Not succumbing to the burning behind his eyes, he trotted up to Tale as the cats began to melt into shadowed lumps in the night. "All that cats sleep over there- under the three tall pines that offer shelter and needles to cushion the earth. I sleep over there" Whitefire indicated to the other side of the camp where the terrain was scattered with rocks "So, if you need me, you will know where I retire." The white tom fought back a yawn, and tore at the spongy ground with his claws. The moon stretched higher into the sky and begged the cats to shut their eyes.

Tale looked as tiredless as always, watching the Clan leader's face tense as he fought back the yawns. She sensed this as a dismissal so she mewed a soft "Good night,", retreating to the shadows that the trees lay on the ground. She looked up to the tall pine trees, knowing that beneath the branches would lay the same masses of cats that she had seen early. Brown body slipped between a few bodies before curling up beneath the the long stretched roots of a tree nearby. She lay in a patch of moonlight, brown body able to be seen for it's true colour and eyes scanning the bodies of the cats. Everyone seemed to be settling down nicely, some still fussing over favourite spots. Tale let loose a yawn, lowering her head to her chest and wrapping her tail around herself and closing her eyes for the night.

(((It was certainly better than my previous post, however -_-))) Whitefire shot one last glance over the cluster of cats; some were standing, some sleeping, other tittering quietly among themselves. He caught a few giving Tale unreadable gazes, but for the most part, a thick hush was blanketing The Camp. Whitefire turned on his heels, and padded across the clearing, blue eyes roving over the terrain and seeking out his outcropping. It was shallow, but well protected from the elements, and as Whitefire twirled around on the crisp pine needles he had dragged in he thought of how quickly the cats had inured the complete shift in their way of life. A complete new rising of government, and a state of affairs quite different from anything they had ever conceived. This unsettled him. If things could change so fast, who knew what rock of life would be altered next. And with these thoughts, the Leader of the cats drifted into the land of the unconscious.

Tale feel asleep within moments, oblivious to the quiet chatters and murmurs. Her mind was full of information, from where the catch pile is to the place most suitable places to sit at the gatherings at the Stump. Her mind kept occupied by sorting out the information to different places, keeping herself away from the more personal subjects like whether or not the cats liked her or what would her mentor be like. The two firm answers of those questions were 'Do I really care' and 'I won't have to be with them for long'. Brown body moved very little during the night, the only movement being her ribs rising and falling. Soon her sleep was deep and unbreakable, along with the few other cats who had decided to have an early night.
So sleep she did for only a few hours. It was an instinct really, to wake up very early in order to have others avoid her morning grumpiness. She stretched her body across the ground, green eyes opening a slit. A few other cats were stirring, but they all seemed prepared to go back to sleep. Muscled body rose, slipping between the few cats that dared to sleep near her. Tale was soon out of the mass of cats, blinking sleepiness from her eyes and continuing her stretches and yawns. Paws treaded lightly on the ground, tongue soon able to lap up the water that she was aiming for. Once more she yawned, looking to her reflection with a peaceful look in her eyes.

A fuzzy figure cut slipped through the camp like a swooping black raven. Her paws were large and grasped at the terrain with each step, steadying her with each prosperous stride. Large ears tipped forward in their typical eager state and bright, gem-green eyes blared through the early darkness. She was heading for the cat drinking by the puddle. Tale. She cut through the distance quickly. Soon, the large black female was before Tale. "Hello. I'm Marbreak; Whitefire says I'm to be your mentor." Her voice was hushed and excited. Marbreak wasn't one to cling to prejudices for any reason. She had an almost recklessly compassionate heart and she more often than not heeded that instead of her brain. Marbreak had spotted Tale rise when no other cat did. She had already been sleeping lightly; climate changes were highly noticeable by cats. It had taken quite an effort to resist pouncing before Tale and talking to her.

Tale didn't even flinch at this new cat's oncoming, the only way to tell she even noticed the she cat at her side by the smallest angling of her ears towards the large black cat. After a moment, feeling the excitment radiating off this mentor, slender brown head turned to face this Marbreak cat. Green eyes were as large and everwatching as they were last night, face showing little to no emotion.
Her thoughts were speaking quite boldly, however. 'Pairing me up with this bouncing furball of energy? She hardly looks wise enough to be a mentor, but maybe they just go by pyshical skills rather than the powers of the mind...'
And if that was her clan's ways, then she would be pleased to change her ways to match. Such loyalty was often a death sentence.
A brief smile touched her lips, tail's end giving a twitch. "Pleasant to meet you Marbreak. I'm certain I'll learn alot from you,"
Tale stated smoothly, knowing that though her techniques were undeniably acceptable, her knowledge of the clan, it's history and members, was completely unknown to her, save a few tidbits. Dark brown body shifted so she was on her feet, facing the black cat before her.

Marbreak lashed her tail in attentiveness and early morning energy. The sun had not yet broken through the sky, which gave Marbreak the appearance of a dark patch of earth. \ "Hope so! Though the forest can teach you just as well, my ways are faster. Let's go for a walk; we can get to know each other and have a sort of evaluation" Marbreak was filled to the brim with motherly benevolence. Leaping to her paws, she cast a quick, sweeping look over the sleeping mound of cats. All was quiet. "Come on! Maybe we can catch some fresh prey before the other wake." The desire to prowl through the forest gushed through Marbreak's veins as her fur shivered with her moving body. There was a raw chill in the air, and as Marbreak approached the forest, she noticed the first few oak leaves with gilded and blushing tips. Marbreak lived for the time when the leaves' stems withered and weakened and they fluttered to the ground in a fiery rain of color. Marbreak's life suited her perfectly. As long as there were seasons to change, her heart would rest content.

Tale looked at the excited cat before her, pupils following her darting tail. It was indeed odd to see someone so alive and cheery in the morning. Well, Tale was fully awake but brisk rather than happy. She blinked abruptly as Marbreak just as suddenly leaped to her paws. Perked ears listened half heartedly to her words, trotting after her mentor as watching her carefully. She seemed overjoyed, completely happy and prepared with the short season of autumn and then the dreaded winter.
The brown cat following the black, on the other hand, seemed very aware of her surroundings and very wary of them. It was like she had seen this all, but couldn't yet keep herself from being impressed. Large green eyes took Markbreak's lead and looked about the soft changes of the tree tops, the green slipping into a more dramatic colour.
A sigh escaped her as she quickened her pace, realizing she had fallen a bit behind. Soon she was at her mentor's side, looking to her with an expectant expression.

A simple smile peels across Marbreak's maw as she caught Tale's eyes. At that point, she became set in a resolution to befriend this cat from nowhere. Although she seemed to have convinced herself otherwise, Marbreak had a feeling Tale needed friends. Heck, they all did. As the turbulent tone of fake peace climbed to its climax, it would be foolishly reckless to go it alone. "Right. Well, as you probably know, we, the cats, live in the Forest of The West. The deer are directly across from us- across the meadow where the horses live- in the Forest of the East. And next to their forest is The Great Mountain. That's where the wolves live. Rather unfortunate position for the deer, if you ask me. But this is all assuming you are new to This Side. Are you?" Marbreak trotted slowly as she chatted, tail swaying easily like the flimsy branches on the trees. The air was thin and cool, and it flooded Marbreak's body as the first bloody strips of red slathered themselves on the dark sky.
