Small cloven hooves dug deep into the dirt, the forest singing softly on this bright and sunny morning. Gold tinted body gleamed beneath the sun's rays, damp with a recent cross of a river. The slender head turned this way and that, black eyes looking about the peaceful forest with a certain wariness. Her thin build was of a doe's body, slender legs picking a careful path through the sun dappled forest. Movements were fluid, neck moving gracefully as her head swivelled about along with her large and slightly tilted back ears.
Though her actions were wary, she did not seem shy. The doe left her hoof prints with a certain gusto, her tail not showing the white flag of fear or warning. Her large nose was snuffing silently, smell the scent of the deers who lived among these trees. Eyes narrowed, giving a quick glance around once more as though expecting the herd to be circling her. With more elegance and boldness than before, she trotted forward, directly towards the strongest scent of deer and unknowingly to her the camp's clearing.
Ears pinned back against her head as she peered through a pair of bushes, seeing deer, young and old alike, perform tasks or just bouncing around. A camp, most obviously. No one yet seemed to see her, the sun's recent apperance not yet awakening everyone in the camp. Proudly, she entered the clearing, giving a harsh snort to gain attention from someone. A pair of young does turned their heads her way, along with an elder stag. "I come to speak to your leaders," the doe said coolly, seeing the deer open and close their mouths in attempt to grab something to say.
The elder motioned to the pair, who scampered off in direction of Solark, not daring to near Luna and her new company.
The soft brown doe stood in the shade, gold tints not quite showing the same as they did in the sun. Heavily lashed black eyes looked out to the camp with a certain emotion of coldness, slender legs positioning themselves in a more comfortable way.

Solark had been striding resignedly to wards his rock. His glorious rock that nursed his sleep and seclusion. How he longed for her hospitality. But no, the Sun still burned in the sky for him; his work was not done. Casting a stern expression upon his coarse face, her turned and spotted the intruding doe before the pair of messengers could reach him. Deer Camp seems to be a popular rest stop tonight. As he moved toward the newcomer, he noted her less than shy stance, and stone-like expression. The camp's eyes were tuned into her figure; Solark suspected her entrance had been less than discreet. "I suppose you and demure do not get along well, eh?" Amusement was gone from his voice. "I am Solark, the one I suspect you seek. Please state your business and intentions." He eyes the doe with vague interest. His towering antlers cast gnarled shadows on his face as the sun crackled through the sky.

"Demure and I have never met," the doe replied, just as coolly as Solark stated his introductions. Endless black eyes had already sized up the stag, realizing now there was little difference in the White-tailed deer's bucks and the Mule deer's males. So she just tilted her head back the slightest to look up at him, eyes narrowed against the sun that let his antler's shadows rest on her face. "My buisiness and intentions here are indentical. I wish to join your herd and the fight against wolves. I was, and still am, rather fond of being alive, so taking on the wolves solitary is not a choice idea for me." she stated just a second after her first words, dry humor curling up faster in her words than a slug just poured on with salt. Her own eyes were starting to trail away to the herd members who curiously hung back to see the new deer, everyone seeming to suddenly have something to do when her cold gaze rested on them. Within a moment her eyes were back on Solark, looking defiantly up at him and waiting for his replies.

Solark twitched his ears in interest. How does this stranger know the plans of Deer Camp? My plans? Or maybe it was just hope..... He straightened. "Any and all troops are accepted; we need all the help we can lay out hooves upon. But that attitude won't get you far." Laying a warning eye upon the doe, he saw Luna and her little castaway stirring at the edge of camp. When will that sister of mine realize the stakes at which we are playing? Clearing his thoughts with a shake of the head, he returned his attention to the stranger "We don't require much information from new members, but a name will suffice." He suggested.

She took a step towards the towering figure before her, her light brown body brightening to a golden brown. Ears tilted back when Solark straightened himself, black eyes narrowing even more with his words and his glare of warning. A smile broke her features, but it was not on that was reassuring. Darkened muzzle spread to speak once Solark suggested her name to be told.
"I have gotten this far with this attitude," she replied in a sing song voice, which deepened as she continued, "And I will go much farther.
She let a moment pass for that to sink in, before letting her eyes return to a more normal position. Hind leg gave a stamp, a bloodsucker attempting to penetrate her skin. At last she spoke.
"As for a name, it is Kijani," she told smoothly, giving a toss to her head as a fly rested also on her neck. She gave a wary glance to the sky, flies this early in the morning meant one thing; rain.

Solark narrowed his eyes at the brash doe. If she thinks she can talk her way into an easy life she's got another thing coming. But we'll see. We'll see. "Kijani-" The tall buck suddenly angled his head, muscles tightening and shoulders arching. A crashing rolled through the forest and penetrated Solark's felt ears. It was a fast moving creature, the barreled through their forest; a creature without reserve or caution. A creature that didn't care who heard. "Wolves" Solark spoke, eyes stabbing at the thick forest before stripping himself away and flying to The Rock. "Flee! Flee south! Wolves" The word were bitter and furious on his tongue. How he resented running from those blood lusting brutes. Someday.. he would rally enough deer to crush them. Break each wolf's legs one by one. Crack their skull open, and wipe fear from This Side. At this point, a certain degree of panic swept over The Camp. Deer were charging and gathering up young ones. Solark walked to the center of camp. He watched as Luna galloped up to him. "Solark! Be careful. You got bloodied up enough last time, it took me-" "Go, Luna! GO!" He was raging inside, Luna knew. But so was she. Snarling, she brushed past the stationary Leader and cut through the mass of frightened flesh. A mottled coat burst into camp. It was a massive male wolf, gleaming teeth sparking in the sun, tail slashing, claws ripping. Two other, smaller wolves emerged at his side. Great gods... someday this will end. Someday, we will flee in terror no more.

Kijani gave a soft snort as he said her name, but then watched him warily as he abruptly tensed. She, too, found herself following suit, peering over his shoulder at the menacing rustles coming deep within the forest. She pinned her ears tightly against her head at the alarm of wolves, keeping herself still as the mass of deers rushed past her, their eyes bulging but their minds clear enough to force the younger ones to the middle of the crowd. Black eyes were wide as she looked around the bodies of deer, picking out Solark's towering antlers from the pile. Kijani listened to his commanding bellows, raising a hoof to take advice before she saw a large wolf leap expertly into the camp, predetor's eyes picking out his next prey. Two, just-as-deadly wolves soon was at his side. She looked to Solark for a final time before her golden body vanished among the greenery, black eyes watching from over her shoulder as she rather slowly picked her path. A bad feeling had come through her, white tail raised in a flag but dread rushing through her. She walked slowly and silently, waiting for Solark to break through the brush too.

A slender buck with moderate antlers managed to restrain himself and bound over to Kijani. "Run! You gotta get out of here" His eyes were wide and as turbulent as the currents of the Rain River. His soul might have been conscientious enough to pause in his flight to warn an innocent newcomer, but his mind was not of the brave variety. He sprinted away, snow white tail flagged. Meanwhile, one of the lanky wolves made a dash for a hesitating deer, but Solark blocked him by jamming his antlers in the wolf's face. Said wolf snarled menacingly, Solark bellowed fiercely. "Your perfidy drags you down lower than the worms that slither through the soil. Get out" His voice was raw with fury, a desire to slam an antler into the heart of every single wolf that dotted the mountainside. The massive male wolf in the middle barked in alarming amusement. "Deer, you ain't nothing but meat on legs. Your flesh was born for feeding." Things were going according to plan. Except for the fact that Solark was falling into the seductive abyss of anger. This was dutifully noted by the fearsome middle wolf. "The Camps... they're just a big joke. It just makes it easier for us to skip down here and nibble on your Camp" Hook, line, and sinker, Solark made a forceful lunge, powered by emotion. The middle wolf's to the opportunity granted to him, and dove under Solark, clamping his strong jaws around the deer's hind leg. His teeth clacked, meeting bone. Solark yelled out, wrenching around to try and pry the wolf off of his leg, while the others leaped at him, snapping and snarling. Solark had to fight them before he could tend to his leg. The wolf bit down as hard as the muscles in his jaws would allow, radiant blood spilled out onto the bare ground, and lit a crackling fire in the wolf's eyes. Adrenaline is one thing. Blood lust is another. Solark bellowed, giving a great thrash of his hind. The wolf released, and the other two were shaken off. They resumed their stand-off positions. Solark panted, his head lower than before. The wolves were a bit bruised, but smirking and snapping for more. "You thought you'd save the camp, didn't you? How noble. Ain't he noble, guys?" The other two howled in laughter. Dark, penetrating hatred wallowed in Solark's eyes. He braced himself for their next push.

Kijani watched the buck near her, backing up a step at his abrupt warning. A slightly surprised look followed his bounding white tail, soon vanishing in the foilage. Black eyes snapped back to the scene before her, long neck raised to peer over the bushes and ears perked forward. Curses ran through her mind, what was she to do? Antlerless, she had nothing but her own sheer will and hooves, and wolves were lucky critters and often could grab kicking legs with a snap of their teeth. She listened to the bellows, Solark was getting provoked, his attacks became sloppy. A wince ran through her as jaws bit into his hind leg, Solark soon removing the wolf but they still stood strong around them.
Black eyes surveyed around her, anything she could use to her advantage? Sticks, hooves and her own weight. That was all she had. She looked through the bushes, looking for any remaining deer that lurked the forest like she did. There seemed to be no one, and that terrified her. What type of camp was this? There was no one here for back up! Anger flamed up inside her like sticks covered with gas introduced to a lit match. A crazy idea welled up inside her, whether or not it would work totally unknown.
Silently, quickly, she moved herself so she was behind the largest of the wolves, just finishing off his last sentence. Only the snap of a twig was heard as Kijani leaped from the ground, sharp hooves and entire body weight aiming to at the boss wolf. If she landed, lovely, she would squash him and hopefully break his skull. If not, well, okay, Solark had a chance to gain the advantage of surprise, win win right?
So Kijani hoped as she lept, narrowed and fury filled eyes focused at her target.

The hulking male wolf was just finishing off his nasty laughter when a shadow draped itself over his eyes. He looks up just as a doe came down on him. Having just enough time to scramble, he saved his life by inching to the left, but his side got clipped badly. Crying out in pain, he leaped aside and flashed his teeth at the newcomer. Solark could barely recognize her through his mask of agony. His leg felt as if it had been chopped in two, but still he stood his ground, if not shakily. "Kijani? What are you doing here?" He gritted his teeth as he spoke. If only his teeth were the tearing kind. "Looks like we'll have leftovers!" One of the other wolves barked excitedly, but the injured wolf snapped at him, ornery and violent in his selfish agony. Solark still tried to speak sense "It was injudicious for you to come, Kijani-" His words were left dangling in midair as an ashen grey wolf tore at his chest. Solark stumbled, and attempted to scrape him off. Meanwhile, the other small wolf lunged at Kijani, clicking his teeth like a trap, aiming for her shoulder as he leaped at her back. The larger wolf spat impressive curses at both deer and wolves as he fidgeted on the ground, blood dripping down his side. "You two are pathetic. All of you are! I'll tear your eyes out!"

Kijani felt her hoof dig into flesh, a flicker of satisfaction crossing her face as the wolf let loose a yelp. She was thinking more and more as she was leaping. She would streak across the clearing once she landed, following Solark who better've bolted. With the forest, the deer's quick legs and extended knowledge of how things grew here could get the wolves' off their tails. Things most obviously didn't work out this way. The wolves had each of them only a pounces distance away and Solark was unmoving save his mouth.
"This isn't the time to yick yack!" Kijani bellowed, backing up as the wolf lunged at her. He made contact with her back, but whether he was hanging on or not unknown to her. She quickly bucked, only to come back down with a thud and her chest to come up. The weight of the wolf threw her offbalence, she teetered backwards on her hind legs, back ramming into a tree. Kijani winced as she felt herself against it, sliding down the trunk and hoping to find the wolf who leaped at her at least a pace away. The gold tinted doe was soon on her feet, prepared to kick and slash her next attacker.

Things were going all wrong. All wrong. At this point, Solark should be streaking through the meadow, leading the blood lusting wolves far away from camp. But here they were, cutting each other up right in the center of camp. The writhing predator making his attacks at Solark's chest was receiving a few nicks from the deer's edgy hooves. Before Solark could catch his breath, he and Kijani were facing the three wolves once more. Even if the situation turned hopeless, Solark would not be able to flee. This information was tucked into the back of his brain, but he did not waver, or dwell on it. The wolves were flecked with blood, but not suffering heavily. Solark's ears, the only part of him free of fatigue, flicked backward. A new rustling was sounding from behind them. Out of the corner of Solark's eyes he caught sight of the lanky figure of a doe burst into the clearing. Luna.... oblivious to authority The trio of wolves drew back their lips and snarled venomously. They couldn't take on three deer without suffering unnecessary injuries. The middle wolf stood, a picture of malignant influence. "I am Aroh. We'll be seeing each other again real soon." He tipped back his muzzle and howl, a short, penetrating yelp, before retreating back through the woods, the other two close behind. Luna immediately turned her attention to Solark's mauled leg, muttering and fussing. Solark had his eyes in Kijani. Why had she come back? [/b] "I feel obligated to offer you my thanks. I suppose I was right in thinking you were not the demure sort. I also feel you deserve an explanation."Hes gave a thin smile, quite pale from the pain coursing through his body.[/center]

Kijani was suffering only from the claw deep slash on her shoulder. The other little nicks were unimportant, and even her scratch was nothing compared to Solark's wounded leg. Head was lowered, the position of most males when they are about to ram their horns. Her blacks eyes watched the snarling wolves before her, her hopes sinking. They could not take on them, both deer had already gained injuries while they stood basically unharmed. Large ears twitched suddenly, the rustling of the bushes behind them starting a new wave of hidden panic. She glanced behind her, relieved when she only saw a leggy deer breaking through the trees into the clearing. The wolves' snarls started again, though more in a warning now. Kijani's piercing eyes were on the middle wolf, opening his mouth to speak. Ears pinned back against her head at his last declaration, the howl ringing in her ears.
Her dark shaded head shook as though trying to ride herself of the sound, suddenly concious of both Solark's eyes on her and the muttering of the newly arrived deer. Ears perked slightly as the Camp leader spoke, turning her body to face him. A roguish smile crossed her muzzle in reply to Solark's pale face, what she now boldly murmured being the reply to the words,
"I was just doing what I thought any Camp member would do, though I was sorely mistaken," she paused, shifting her weight, "But I accept the thank yous anyways. And what more is there to explain than they're wolves, hunting deer is what they do and resisting death is what we do. If it is deeper than that, than feel free to explain."
She finished off at last, shrugging and smile now gone.

Solark was teetering precariously, and finally Luna ordered him to lie down. Solark obliged, crumpling his legs and sinking to the earth. "I'll be back. I'm going to go get some medical supplies from the wood- you. Watch him. Make sure he doesn't do any aerobics or anything while I'm gone." She addressed Solark and Kijani, rolling her eyes at Solark. Sprinting off to places unseen, Luna left the pair alone at Camp. Solark fidgeted, restlessly, greatly disturbed in his crippled state. "Yes, an explanation as to why the camp became a yawning chasm at the first breath of wolves. It wasn't cowardice that drove them all away, though I'm sure they weren't all that reluctant to flee; it was an order. I intimated to the camp that were wolves to infiltrate our ranks, as they so often do, that they would run, and I would draw the wolves away. The plan worked with mellifluous success until recently. They have been charging the camp more and more often, our sniveling canine friends have. Our reactions have become less swift, my mind less guarded, as you saw." Trouble and anger brewed on Solark's slanted face. "Our strategy will obviously have to change. The wolves are cold, calculating brutes. The original plan to avoid as many injuries as possible must change into a system of self defense. From there, we slide into offense." Solark's eyes were cold and black. His body was still, as if perfectly in sync with the plan he had just laid out. His heart beat for the plan, and his muscles churned for it.

Kijani murmured a soft agreement as Luna bounded off in search of something to help the wounded Solark. Unblinking black eyes focused on him, turning towards his words with a grave and listening ear. So the herd wasn't at all cowards like she first thought, but she didn't dare admit that she was wrong outside the boundaries of her mind. She watched as his eyes darkened with anger, body stiffened with rage. Her slender head lifted a bit, a thoughftul look clouding her face. "I think," she started off softly, her gaze turned away from him, "That everyone in the herd will be vey willing to join in your new plan. But have you ever thought that the horses may help your conquest?" Her question was softly asked, eyes back on him. Whoever gained the horses as an ally was a formidable foe, at least to the wolves. Wolves could not do the same aerobatics that cats could, and were generally more about brute strength than stealth, according to how they had attacked the deer Camp on this day.
